Some of their tracks are heavily used whilst some are lesser travelled. Either way their tracks will lead you on an exploratory adventure as you discover this amazing piece of forest.

This area of Gippsland is widely renowned for our reliable annual rain fall of around 800mm to 1000mm. So, it should come as NO surprise that hidden in the gully is a section of remnant damp forest. This piece is a living, breathing eco system of high importance and even higher conservation value. Here you will find king ferns that umbrella the smaller fish bone ferns, small ponds especially at this time of year echo an orchestra of frogs sounding off. 

Home also to the Strzelecki & South Gippsland burrowing crayfish. That is NOT JUST a fallen hollowed out decaying log you see and that dead standing tree it ALL has a purpose and that purpose is natural habitat. 
Tree goanna’s, sugar gliders, ringtail and Brush tailed possums, micro bats including ALL the things you cannot see or hear are your neighbours. And at night when the nocturnal activity begins and the tree’s start to mysteriously move without the wind, then you know your in good company with the native wildlife.  Folks there is a hive of activity going on ALL around you day and night, unexplored continent’s housing an array of invertebrate communities living inside a microclimate world. 

ALL we must do is take the time to look, listen, discover and most importantly defend. 

Gippsland is the Land of the Lyre Bird, it’s where the wild things are.
