611 S Liberty Street, San Augustine, TX 75972

Own a piece of Texas history. The bones were built in 1840 by James Pinckney Henderson, first governor of the State of Texas, and in 1925 became the Craftsman cottage admired today. A wide columned porch and fanlight entry welcome you under centuries-old oaks, with the 1936 State of Texas marker in the front yard. Inside are tall ceilings, classic wood floors, rich stained trim, glass doorknobs and french doors. The living room fireplace is framed by glass-front built-ins, and a second fireplace warms one bedroom. The vintage kitchen has glass-front cabinets, farmhouse sink and O'Keefe & Merritt range. 3 bed, 2 bath with a pedestal soaking tub and a walk-in shower. A screened back porch with a swing overlooks the property's beautiful pasture, peaceful pond and mature trees, creating a private country setting just blocks from San Augustine's historic square. A calm 40min drive to Nacogdoches or Lufkin or 25 min to Lake Sam Rayburn. Step back in time by scheduling your own tour today!
